Fromagerie Médard
Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean
La BELLE-MÈRE will win you over! This beautiful and generous semi-soft, farm cheese round is made of pasteurized whole milk from Brown Swiss cows. Its perfect orange-brown rind houses mouth-watering aromas of roasted almonds and honey.
Normand Côté is a fifth generation owner of the Domaine de la Rivière farm. He and his life partner Madeleine Boivin proudly transform milk from their herd at the Fromagerie Médard cheese shop. Theirs are farm cheeses; they are produced exclusively from milk drawn from their own herd, which pastures in the fields in the summer and is fed dry hay in the winter. The cheese shop owes its name to agricultural legend Médard Côté, son of Eucher Côté.
It is available from the cheese maker, at specialty grocery stores and cheese shops as well as from some supermarkets.
